The F.P. Journe Caliber 1403 powers the Tourbillon Souverain, the first model in the Souveraine collection launched in 1999 and the only tourbillon wristwatch featuring a remontoire (constant force device). In 2004, François-Paul Journe introduced a second generation with remontoire and dead-beat seconds, a unique complication for a contemporary wristwatch. The French term 'seconde morte' indicates that the hand remains motionless until the second has actually elapsed, providing more accurate time reading. The constant-force remontoire ensures exceptional precision by delivering stable torque to the escapement. The movement features a 15-tooth escape wheel, 90° anchor fork, balance with 4 inertia weights, flat Anachron balance spring with Breguet overcoil, and a free-sprung pinned stud mechanism. All base plates and bridges are crafted in 18K rose gold.
