The Caliber 3126/3840 is the beating heart of all modern Royal Oak Offshore Chronographs since 2007, replacing the earlier caliber 2226/2840. This self-winding caliber is based on the in-house Caliber 3120 with a Dubois-Depraz chronograph module. It features 365 total components, a cam-actuated chronograph mechanism, and a 22K gold rotor decorated with the Audemars and Piguet family crests (or skeletonized blackened rotor on 44mm models). The movement features diamond-engraved beveled edges, inverse snailing on bridges, gold-plated wheels with circular patterns, and a balance with 8 variable inertia blocks.
